My Approach
Good therapy starts with authenticity, compassion, and vulnerability. As a therapist, my mission is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can truly be themselves. This means that I listen with an open mind and approach each session with genuine care and curiosity. Albeit intimidating, I know that growth often requires venturing into unfamiliar territory, so I will not shy away from asking those difficult and uncomfortable questions and challenging upheld belief systems. I encourage clients to step outside of their comfort zone so that they can garner insight on the potential blind spots holding them back and facilitate the development of new, more balanced understandings.
My Clinical Background
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved learning about people - the good, the bad, and the ugly about why we are the way we are and how our environment seems to shape and mold our beliefs and behaviors. I also learned from a young age the power therapy has on shifting the trajectory of your life. This curiosity and lived experience seemed to naturally lend itself to a career in relationship counseling. After completing my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, I gained experience in various trauma-informed settings including non-profit community mental health agencies, rehabilitation services for addiction, and holistic treatment centers (think sound baths and mindfulness practices). From these experiences, I learned who I was as a therapist and what seemed to resonate best with my clients, which tended to be a mixture of psychodynamic, systemic, and mind-body-focused therapy modalities. I now work independently but I continue to learn, draw from these past experiences, and stay curious.
